Rites Held For Herman Wiltfang

Herman F. Wiltfang of Maple Manor Nursing Home in Aplington passed away on Thursday, March 16, at the home. He had reached the age of 83 years, 11 months and 7 days.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 20, at the Reformed Church of Stout with Pastor Don Ringnalda officiating. Interment followed at Stout Cemetery in Stout.

Pallbearers were David Lawrence, Delbert Kalkwarf, Larry Bruhn, Elvin Wiese, Calvin Heyenga and Donavan Truax.

Herman was born the son of Henry and Carrie Konken Wiltfang on April 9, 1911, in Buck Grove. He was educated at Grundy County rural Schools.

On January 30, 1940, Herman was united in marriage to Vivian Heilman in her home. The couple lived on a farm southwest of New Hartford for 48 years. In the spring of 1974, they moved to Parkersburg. Herman was a Charter Lions Club member in Parkersburg and a member of Reformed Church of Stout where he was active as a Elder and a Deacon. Herman enjoyed riding a stationary bicycle and he rode that bicycle over 10,000 miles.

He was preceded in death by her parents; and 2 sisters, Rena Meester and Vera Andreessen.

Herman is survived by his wife Vivian Wiltfang of Maple Manor Nursing Home in Aplington; 2 sons and their wives, Wayne (Joann) Wiltfang of Waterloo and Dennis and (Joyce) Wiltfang of Bettendorf; 1 daughter and her husband, Leota (Mrs. John) Roskamp Lundahl of Largo, Florida; 7 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.

Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg was in charge of the arrangements.
