Services Held For Harlan Andreessen

Harlan Ray Andreessen, 66, of 1009 Pleasant Drive, Parkersburg, died Wednesday morning, May 29, 1985 at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, IA.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 1985 at the Reformed Church of Stout with Pastor Don Ringnalda officiating. Elaine Schnell was the organist, and Marcia Allspach and Janet Johnson sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Where the Roses Never Fade." Casketbearers were James Lindaman, Darrell Lindaman, Daniel Lindaman, David Wilkens, Kenneth DeVries and Douglas Christiansen. Interment followed in the Stout cemetery.

Harlan, the son of Dan and Alice Eiklenborg Andreessen, was born Aug. 27, 1918, in Grundy county near Stout. He received his education in the rural school near his home. On October 19, 1936, he was united in marriage to Kathryn Eilers at Grundy Center, IA. They established their home in Stout. Harlan worked in several occupations until he became a livestock dealer in 1941. He retired in 1973. They moved to their present home in Parkersburg in 1978.

Harlan was a member of the Reformed Church of Stout. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, and two infant brothers, and two infant sons, he is survived by his wife, Kathryn; two sons, Marlyn and his wife, Theone Andreessen of Stout, Larry Andreessen of Austin, MN, two daughters, Carol Jean, Mrs. Ralph Meewes, Satellite, FL, and LuAnn Andreessen, Cedar Falls; eight grandchildren; four sisters, Margaret, Mrs. Henry Heeren of New Hartford; Mae, Mrs. Vernon Lindaman, Cedar Falls; Mildred, Mrs. Alvin Wilkens, Stout; and Erma, Mrs. Charles Christiansen, Dike; one brother, Harry Andreessen of Cedar Falls.

Schwartz-Engelkes Funeral Home of Parkersburg was in charge of arrangements.
