Rites Held For Remka Eiklenborg

Mrs. Remka Eiklenborg passed away at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, Thursday morning, February 6 at the age of 86 years, one month and five days. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 8, 1975 at the Stout Reformed Church.

Rev. Paul Tanis officiated. Lori Nielsen was organist. Vocalists Janet Johnson and Marcia Allspach sang "Where the Roses Never Fade" and "Think of the Home, Over There". Casket bearers were Ronald Froning, Thomas Becker, Kenneth Eiklenborg, Melvin DeGroot, Randy Konken and Fred Dudash. Burial was in the Stout cemetery.

Mrs. Remka Eiklenborg was born on January 1, 1889, a daughter of Henry and Eskie Andreessen in Beaver Township, Grundy County, Iowa.

She was educated in the Grundy county school system, Beaver No. 4.

She was married to Fred Eiklenborg February 23, 1916. The wedding took place on a farm near Stout.

She and her husband farmed in the Stout area and she continued operating the farm for ten years following his death on April 6, 1940. She retired to her home in Stout in 1950.

She was a member of the Reformed Church of Stout, and was active in the Dorcas Circle of the Women's Guild for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and one sister.

She is survived by five children: Harvey, Vera (Mrs. Jack DeGroote), Elma (Mrs. Francis Stover), Harold, all of Dike; Marlys (Mrs. John Konken) of Stout; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, three brothers, Henry Andreessen of Cedar Falls, William Andreessen of Parkersburg, Herman Andreessen of New Hartford, and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Juel of Stout and Mrs. Grace Arends of Grundy Center and numerous other relatives.
