Obituary of Mrs. Elizabeth Bergman

Mrs. Elizabeth Bergman, the daughter of Enno and Anna Knock, was born on August 30, 1898 in Grundy County.

She was educated in the Grundy county school system.

She was married to Jacob M. Bergman on September 28, 1921.

The family farmed for 13 years, three miles north of Stout and since that time have lived on the present home farm immediately north of Stout.

She had been a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian church and later transferred her membership to the Reformed Church of Stout where she was a faithful member and very active in the Women's Guild (Dorcas Circle).

Mrs. Bergman had been in failing health and passed away at the family home on Monday evening, November 4th, at the age of 76 years, 2 months and four days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1949 and an infant daughter.

She is survived by four sons, Harold of Audubon; Marlyn of Santa Cruz, California; Robert of Stout; James of Norwalk; two daughters, Mildred (Mrs. John Bode) of Corydon; Mary Ann (Mrs. Larry Jansen) of Spirit Lake; 11 grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Effie Klosterboer, Mrs. Helen Stickfort, Mrs. George Bergman, of Grundy Center; Mrs. George Eichel of San Jose, California; Mrs. Raymond Hyde of Waterloo.

Services were held at Stout Ref. church on November 7, with Rev. Paul Tanis officiating. Organist was Elaine Schnell. Lori Nielsen sang "Don't Forget to Pray" and "How Great Thou Art". Casketbearers were Roger Bergman, Harlan Klosterboer, Willis Stickfort, Duane Nevenhoven, Alvin Miller and William Bergman. Burial was in the Stout cemetery.
