Obituary of Miss Crete Lowe
Services for Miss Crete Lowe were held Monday, May 20 at the Reformed Church of Stout. Rev. Paul Tanis officiated. The organist was Elaine Schnell. Lori Nielsen sang "What a Day that Will Be" and "Blessed Assurance." Casketbearers were Henry VanEllen, Harold Rademaker, Harvey Eiklenborg, Henry Heeren, Calvin Heyenga and John Konken.
Crete Lowe was born March 6, 1889 in Van Buren County, Ia. She is the daughter of John Edward Lowe and Mary Cook Lowe.
She was baptized by Rev. Young at the Lebanon Presbyterian church in Van Buren Co.
In 1894 she came to Grundy county to make her home with the Helmer Bakker family on a farm in Lincoln township. In 1907 they moved to the town of Stout. She, together with her sister Lizzie, took care of them until they passed away. Crete Lowe passed away on Friday morning, May 17, 1974 at the age of 85 years. She is preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Lucille Scott of Gig Harbor, Washington.
Crete Lowe was a member of the Reformed Church of Stout, and one of the first members of the Dorcas Society.
Burial was in the cemetery at Stout.
