Obituary of Jake Peters

Jake Peters died early Tuesday morning, July 3 at the Sartori hospital in Cedar Falls, where he had been hospitalized for eight days. He reached the age of 75 years, 8 months, and 19 days.

Services were held at Reformed Church of Stout on July 6, 1973 with burial in Stout cemetery. Rev. Paul Tanis officiated.

Organist was Mrs. Bernard Schnell, who accompanied the vocalist, Mrs. Andy Nielsen.

Casketbearers were Thomas Becker, Kenneth Eiklenborg, Robert Meinders, Daryl Meyer, Henry Peters and Duane Peters.

He is survived by his wife Marie; two daughters, Esther, Mrs. James Meyer of Grundy Center; Carrie, Mrs. Harvey Eiklenborg of Dike; two sons, John of Cedar Falls, Harvey of Parkersburg; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, John of Dike.

Jake Peters was born on October 14, 1897 in Pleasant Valley township, Grundy county.

His parents were John Peters and Etta Williams Peters.

Mr. Peters was educated in the Grundy county school system. He married Marie Miller on February 26, 1921 at the parsonage of the Reformed Church of Stout. Rev. Rewerts officiated at the marriage ceremony.

Mr. and Mrs. Peters farmed for 50 years. They retired and moved to Parkersburg two years ago. He was a member of the Reformed Church of Stout.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and five brothers.
