Otto Tapper Dies Of Heart Attack

Otto Tapper of Parkersburg died on March 18, 1971 enroute to the Allen Memorial Hospital following a heart attack at the age of 57 years, one month and 17 days.

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, March 22nd, at the Stout Reformed Church with Rev. Paul Tanis officiating. Interment was made in the Stout cemetery. Engelkes Funeral Home was in charge.

Mr. Tapper was born on February 1, 1914, at the home farm, one mile south of Stout. His father was Edward B. H. Tapper, and his mother was Kate Diekhoff. Mr. Tapper was educated in the Grundy County public school system. He served for about eight months with the U.S. army during World War II.

He was married in Illinois on August 7, 1943 to Jane Dirksen. They lived on the home farm south of Stout for their entire married life.

He was baptized on May 3rd, 1914. He made his confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ on May 11, 1947 at the Reformed Church of Stout.

He was preceded in death by his parents, by one daughter Patti Kay (who died in 1955), and one brother, Melvin.

He is survived by his wife, Jane, three sons, Vernon, at home, Gary and Gaylen, both of Waterloo, and one daughter-in-law Barbara (Mrs. Gary Tapper). He is also survived by his step-mother, Mrs. Alice Tapper of Stout, and by two brothers, Ted of Waterloo and Harvey who lives near Grundy Center.
