Services Today for Hillerd Bergman, 68

Funeral services for Hillerd Bergman, 68, of Dike are scheduled to be held this afternoon Thursday, Feb. 20, at 1:30 p.m. at the Stout Reformed Church. Rev. Albert M. Moss of Cedar Falls will officiate. Burial will be in the Stout Cemetery.

Mr. Bergman passed away at his Dike home early last Monday evening, Feb. 17, of an apparent heart attack.

Hillerd Bergman was born in Beaver township, Grundy County, on March 24, 1900, the son of Jacob and Susie Meester. He married Rena Konken on May 30, 1923, in Butler county. He farmed all his life in Butler and Grundy counties, moving to Dike about three years ago.

He was a member of the Stout Reformed Church and a member of the Men's Brotherhood of the Church.

Survivors include his widow, Rena; one son, William of rural Dike; four brothers Joe and Geo. of Grundy Center, Andrew of Parkersburg and Theodore of Cedar Falls; four sisters, Mrs. Charles Nevenhoven of Grundy Center, Mrs. Oscar Miller of New Hartford, Mrs. William Dreesman of Cedar Falls and Mrs. George Pothast of rural Dike and two grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, two brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be Ray Cirksena, Herman Wiltfang, John Konken, Robert Bergman, Roger Bergman and Herman Boelman. Music will be provided by the Men's Quartet of the Stout Reformed Church with Mrs. Florence Dilger as pianist. Organ music was played by Mrs. Bernard Schnell. Mrs. Harold Rademaker and Mrs. Alvin Wilkens were in charge of the flowers.

The Dike Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements and provided public viewing at the Chapel from Tuesday evening until this noon where the body was to be taken to the church for viewing prior to the services.
