Geerta T. Weber, 98

Geerta T. Weber, of Parkersburg, passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, in Parkersburg, in the home of her daughter, Millie Saul, of natural causes. She reached the age of 98 years, six months and 29 days.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 29, at 10:30 a.m. at Stout Gospel Hall, Stout. Mr. Richard VanMill and Mr. Allen Christopherson officiated. Burial was in the Stout Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Lloyd Weber, Marlyn Weber, Eldon Lorenz, Stanley Stickfort, Roger Kramer and Duane Saul.

Geerta Weber was born the daughter of Popka and Swantje Block Spree on July 27, 1901, in Germany. She received her education in Germany. Geerta and her parents moved to the United States in 1923.

On Dec. 20, 1924, Geerta Spree was united in marriage with Conrad Weber Sr. in Waterloo. They made their home east of Stout on a farm. She was a loving farmer's wife, mother and homemaker. In 1992 Geerta moved to the home of her daughter, Millie Saul.

She enjoyed cross stitching, knitting, gardening and reading books. Geerta loved being with her family and especially caring for the grandchildren and all of the new babies.

Geerta was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad Weber, Sr. in 1953; two sons, Edward and John Weber; daughter-in-law, Mary Weber, son-in-law, Francis Saul; her parents; two brothers, William and Gerhard Spree and three sisters, Reinstena Spree, Nettie Weimken and Tillie Wildeboer.

Geerta is survived by two sons, Conrad Weber, Jr. and his wife Jeanette and Roy Weber and his wife Ann, all of Parkersburg; two daughters, Elizabeth Stickfort and her husband Richard of Stout and Millie Saul of Parkersburg; one daughter-in-law, Viola Weber of Cedar Falls; 22 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Schwartz Funeral Home, Parkersburg, was in charge of the arrangements.
