Owen D. Rich, 72, Died Wednesday

Owen D. Rich was born in Butler county, July 10, 1880, to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Rich. On Feb. 14, 1911, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Dirks. To this union two children were born, Andrew, teacher in the school at Jewell, Iowa, and Christina, who is teaching at Boxholm. After their marriage they moved on the Dirks farm two miles south of town, where they continued to live until 1948, when they moved to Stout.

The deceased was always active, and after moving to town he went back to the carpenter trade, which he followed when a young man.

He was a faithful member of the Reformed church, of the Men's Brotherhood, and had many years of perfect attendance in Sunday School.

He was held in high esteem by all who knew him, and will be greatly missed at home and by friends, and also in the church as he was always willing to help where help was needed.

Mr. Rich had had heart trouble for some time, but took suddenly ill while visiting friends. From this attack he rallied, but on Tuesday morning his condition took a turn for the worse and he passed away early Wednesday morning, Feb. 19, of coronary thrombosis at the age of 72 years, 7 months, 9 days.

Immediate survivors are his widow; two children, Andrew and Christina Rich; two brothers, Olen of Winifred, So. Dak., and Henry of Boeve, Minn.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Reformed church, conducted by Rev. W. J. Heyenga. Burial was in Stout cemetery.
