Mrs. H. Ostendorp Died Sunday

Mrs. H. Ostendorp died at 6:30 Sunday morning at her home in Stout. Her health failed gradually during the past four months. She fell at her home during the last week in November and broke a bone in her hip and shoulder. She was unable to recover from the shock resulting from this accident and she went into a gradual decline. She was 74 years, two months and 29 days old at the time of her death.

Mrs. Ostendorp was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Sonnenberg. She was born at Forreston, Ill., Dec. 26, 1870. When she was four years old her family moved to a farm a half mile west of Fern. She grew up on this farm. She was married to Herman Ostendorp in 1903. With the exception of three years, the couple lived on a Grundy county farm continually until they moved to Stout 16 years ago. For three years they lived on a Kossuth county farm.

Surviving are the husband and three children. The children are Harm of Colfax township, Mrs. Theresse Kroemer, Waterloo, and Mrs. Jake Hemmen, Dike. There are seven grandchildren. Other surviving relatives are one brother, Ben Sonnenberg, Holland, and one sister, Mrs. Jurgen Reents, Parkersburg.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Hemmen, followed with services at the Reformed church at Stout. Rev. W. J. Heyenga will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Stout cemetery.
