Services Held Friday For Thees Schnell
Funeral services for Thees "Ted" Schnell, age 73, of R.R. Parkersburg, were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 10 in the Reformed Church of Stout with Rev. Don Ringnalda officiating. Mrs. Darlys Wiese was the organist and Wayne Arends sang "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be" and "How Great Thou Art." Casketbearers were John Schnell, Johannes Luhring, Robert Kolder, Delbert Hemmen, Roger Meester, and Kenneth Meester. Interment was in the Stout Cemetery, Stout, Iowa.
Ted was born the son of Brunke and Trientje Kampman Schnell in Riepe, Ostfriesland, West Germany. He attended school there and worked as a farmhand until coming to America, Butler County, Iowa, in 1930. During the depression he continued as a farmhand until 1938 when he married Trientje Meester on February 22, 1938. This union was blessed with four children, Bernard, Marie, Johannes, and Clarence. Following their marriage they farmed west of Dike and lived there until August 1977 when they moved to their new home on the south edge of Stout.
Ted was a member of the Reformed Church of Stout and had served as an elder of the church.
He is survived by his wife, Trena; three sons, Bernard and Johannes Schnell, both of Parkersburg, and Clarence Schnell of Dike; one daughter, Marie, Mrs. Glenn Patterson of Essex, Iowa; two brothers, Ewold and Jakob Schnell; two half-brothers, Brunke and Luppo Schnell; and two sisters, Minnie, Mrs. John Ubben and Alma Schnell, all living in Germany. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Chris, his step-mother, Frauke Kampman Schnell and two step-brothers, Willie and Kitti Kampman, and one step-sister, Alma Kampman.
