Della Irene (DeBoer) Rash, of Parkersburg and Tama, died Tuesday, May 25, 1999 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines of natural causes. She reached the age of 80 years, 11 months and 25 days.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 29 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, Parkersburg. Rev. Ken Carr officiated. Burial was in the West Friesland Cemetery, rural Ackley.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Jerald Eiklenborg, Mike DeBoer, David Eiklenborg, Travis Hoing, David Helm, Marty DeBoer, Joe Buckner and Luke DeBoer.
Della was born the daughter of Robbie Jackson and Delphina Martin Moore on May 31, 1918 in Hardin County, New Providence. She received her education and graduated high school in New Providence in 1936. She continued her education and received a teaching certificate in 1938 from the Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls. She began her teaching at the Macy School House by Ackley.
On May 9, 1940 Della Irene Moore was united in marriage with John W. DeBoer at the West Friesland Presbyterian Church, rural Ackley. In 1975, Irene received a Bachelors of Art Degree in education at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. She also taught at the Elmwood and Delwood Schools Middle School, Jr. High. John died on January 25, 1975 and the following year she retired from teaching in 1976 and moved to Parkersburg.
In the fall of 1994 Irene was married to Harold Rash on September 3 at the First Congregational Church in Parkersburg. Della was a member of the First Congregational Church. She enjoyed painting wildlife and liked to do ceramics.
Irene was preceded in death by her first husband, John W. DeBoer and her parents.
Irene is survived by her husband, Harold Rash of Parkersburg and Tama, three sons and their wives, William J. (Jack) and Penny DeBoer of Guthrie Center, Eugene H. and Marva DeBoer of Adel, and Roger L. and Marlene DeBoer of Sartell, MN; one daughter and her husband, Marjory Ann and Clarence Eiklenborg of Parkersburg; two step-sons and their wives, Charles Craig and Chris Rash of Denver and Steven L. and Connie Rash of Clutier; one step-daughter and her husband, Hyla T. and Bob Boelman of Aplington; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Wubben of Steamboat Rock, Helen Smith of Melbourne, Marjory Bunte of MN and Ida May Embree; and two brothers and their wives, Bill and Harriet Moore of Iowa Falls and Robert and Lois Moore of Green Mountain.
Schwartz Funeral Home, Parkersburg, was in charge of the arrangements.
