Wayne Neymeyer Rites Held Saturday

Wayne Neymeyer of Ackley died Nov. 8 at the Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, at the age of 56 years and 11 months. He had been in failing health after undergoing surgery in September.

Services were held November 11 at the Westfriesland Presbyterian Church, Ackley. Rev. Kenneth Remer officiated. Mrs. Eugene Harken was organist and William Aalderks was vocalist. Ushers were LeRoy Huesman and Virgil Janssen. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Leland Neymeyer, Brice Smeins, Craig Smeins, Loren Neymeyer, Steven Whitmire and Lance Smeins.

Friends and relatives were invited to return to the church for an hour of fellowship following the committal services.

Mr. Niemeyer was born December 8, 1921 in Grundy County, Iowa, the son of John and Elizabeth Neymeyer. In 1937, at age 16, he moved with his family to a farm in Butler county.

On August 14, 1945, Wayne married Genevieve Smeins. To this union four children were born. Since their marriage they have made their home at the present farm place in Butler county. Throughout his life he was engaged in construction work and farming.

Wayne and Genevieve confessed their faith in Christ and united in membership with the West Friesland Presbyterian Church of Ackley on May 26, 1946, where he served as a deacon for a number of years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Irene Estrada. Survivors include his wife Genevieve, at home; one daughter, Gayle Willms of Ackley; three sons, Douglas of Wellsburg, and Ryan and Brent at home; one son-in-law, Verlynn Willms; one daughter-in-law, Rosemary Neymeyer; and three grandchildren, Jason and Tara Willms, and Holly Neymeyer. He is also survived by two brothers, Lester of Aplington and Emery of Greene, one sister Betty, Mrs. Rolin Knock of Parkersburg; also three aunts, Mrs. Ed Buschman of Grundy Center, Mrs. Cornelius Frerichs of Aplington, and Mrs. Gertrude Brower of Aplington; and his step-mother, Mrs. Mayme Neymeyer of Kansas City, Mo.
