George DeBoer Services Held

George W. DeBoer, 88, of Aplington, died Monday, September 12, at the Allison Care Center in Allison.

Funeral services were held Thursday, September 15, at 1:30 p.m. at the Ackley Christian Reformed Church with Rev. A. VanSchouwen officiating. Interment was in West Friesland Cemetery, Ackley.

George was born February 23, 1906, in Ackley, the son of William J. and Mary Kippendreyer DeBoer. He attended Aplington Consolidated schools. At age four he moved to a farm southwest of Aplington where he lived for 77 years before moving to the Allison Care Center.

On September 15, 1925, he was united in marriage to Lydia Huiseman at her parents' home in rural Ackley.

George was a farmer and was a member of the Ackley Christian Reformed Church.

Survivors include two sons, Marlyn (Mark) of Aplington and Gary of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a daughter, Wilburta Roegner Hentges of Alta Vista; a brother, William W. of Aplington; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1981; his parents; a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Boelman in 1994; two brothers, John and Jurgen; and two sisters, Tillie DeBoer and Grace Abbas.
