Rites Held For A. Neessen, 82

Anton L. Neessen, 82, of Wellsburg, passed away on Friday, April 22, at The Grundy Care Center, Grundy Center, from complications of age.

Funeral services were held at the Wellsburg Reformed Church, Wellsburg, at 1:30 p.m., Monday, April 25. The Rev. Richard Dowling, Pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of rural Wellsburg, was the officiating clergyman.

Richard Schafer sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Face to Face," accompanied by Mrs. Harvin Meyer, who also played the prelude and postlude on the organ.

Casket bearers were Bernard Harms, Kenneth Cordes, John Olthoff, Herman Sietsema, Kenneth Adams and John Ruter.

Ushers were Dale Murray and Edwin Behrends.

Burial was in the Colfax Center Cemetery, rural Holland.

Anton L. Neessen was born on August 14, 1905, in Colfax Township, to Walter and Teischa Heikens Neessen.

He received his education in the rural Colfax Township schools and attended high school in Wellsburg.

He was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church. He worked in the hardware store, retiring after 43 years, and moved to the Grundy Care Center, Grundy Center, in 1982.

He is survived by a brother Richard of Holland, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Hattie, and a brother, Arthur.

The family has established a memorial fund.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home, Wellsburg, was in charge of the arrangements.
