George Harms Is Dead

George Harms died at his home four miles southwest of Wellsburg Sunday night. For the past two years he suffered from dropsy and it was this affliction that caused his death. For a number of weeks his condition was serious and when death came it did not surprise any of those who were familiar with his condition. Funeral services were held at the Reformed church two miles west of Wellsburg Tuesday afternoon. The service began at one o'clock and they were very largely attended.

Mr. Harms was a resident of Grundy county forty-three years. Nearly all of that time he resided on his farm in Shiloh township. He made farming a business and he marked success of it as he was an extensive land owner at the time of his death.

Mr. Harms was born in East Friesland, Germany 76 years ago. Fifty-four years ago he came to this country in 1859 and located in Ogle county, Ill. He remained here until the year 1870 when he and his family moved to Grundy county.

Mr. Harms was the father of three children, who with the mother are living. The surviving children are one son, Wessel Harms and two daughters, Mrs. Lubert Eiten and Miss Johanna Harms.
