Mrs. Meints Is Dead

Mrs. Tjark Meints, an old resident of this section, died Saturday morning at the home of her son, L. Meints, 3 1/2 miles west of Wellsburg, from illness attendant upon old age. She was 89 years of age, and was born in Ostfriesland, Germany, in March 1826.

She came to this country in the 50's, living first in Ogle county, Ill., removing to Iowa in the 60's. With her husband, she lived on a farm south of Cleves, in Hardin county. In 1864 they moved to the home place now occupied by Louie Meints where she died Saturday morning.

In 1886 they moved to Ackley, where Mr. Tjark Meints died about ten years ago. She has lived with her son, L. Meints, during the latter years of her life.

Mrs. Meints was the mother of nine children, three of whom survive her. They are John T. Meints, of Luverne, Minn., Menno T. Meints of Ackley and Louie T. Meints of Wellsburg. -- Wellsburg Herald
