Funeral Services for Willie Meints Held Saturday p.m.

Willie (Wubbe) Meints, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Meints, was born in Shiloh Township, Grundy County, on February 11, 1901. As a boy he attended the local country school. On December 22, 1940, he made profession of his faith in Jesus Christ, and was a faithful member of this church.

Although he was not blest with a strong body yet he enjoyed health until 1954 when he underwent the first of three operations at Rochester. His physical ills continued to increase and as a result he spent some time in the hospital of Rochester and at Grundy Center.

After spending some time at the Grundy County Memorial hospital this summer, he appreciated that he was able to leave the hospital and spend ten weeks in the home of Mrs. Grace Eekhoff of Wellsburg. Through all his afflictions he manifested a spirit of cheerfulness. Recently it became necessary to return to the hospital and as he gradually grew weaker, he realized that the end of life was fast approaching. He fell asleep in Jesus on Thursday morning at 1:30 o'clock at the age of 60 years, 8 months, and 22 days.

Those who preceded him in death were his parents, his brother, Louis, and a brother and sister who died in infancy.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are two brothers, Charles of Wellsburg and George of Steamboat Rock; three sisters, Mrs. Grace Eekhoff of Wellsburg, Ella, Mrs. Dick Freese of Steamboat Rock and Jennie, Mrs. Marvin Jeske of Eldora, as well as several nephews and nieces, aunts, and a host of other relatives and friends who all admired his wholesome outlook on life.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Dick Freese home and later at the First Christian Reformed Church. Rev. B. Visscher officiated. Interment was made in the church cemetery.

Miss Elizabeth Eekhoff was organist. Music was furnished by a men's quartet composed of Richard Schafer, Melvin Haupt, Larry Riebkes, and Arnold Eiten. Mrs. Chris Christians and Mrs. Edward Menennga were flower attendants. Pall bearers were nephews of the deceased, Darrell Freese, Luvern Freese, Larry Meints, Dennis Meints, Loren Jeske, Melvin Jeske.
