Services Held for Peter H. Eckhoff Thursday, Mar. 12

Funeral services for Peter H. Eckhoff were held Thursday afternoon, March 12 at 12:30 p.m. at the Harry Eckhoff home and later at the First Christian Reformed Church. Rev. Bernard Visscher officiated at the services. Interment was held in the church cemetery.

Music was furnished by a men's quartet composed of Alfred Eiten, Harvey Eiten, Claus G. Primus and Willis Bakker. Mrs. Arthur Cooper was organist.

Flower attendants were Mrs. Abe Wilts and Mrs. Pearl Meints. Pall bearers were Henry A. Eckhoff, Fred Eiten, Fred Ruter, Ike Ruter, James Ruter, Don Eckhoff.

Peter H. Eckhoff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Eckhoff, was born on June 6, 1882 in Stevenson County, Illinois, and came with his parents to Grundy County at the age of five years. Since that time he has resided in the Wellsburg area.

On December 21, 1905 he was married to Hattie Ruter who passed away on April 20, 1940. To them were born three children: Grace, Mrs. Ben G. Geerdes; Harry Eckhoff; and Lena, Mrs. Aeilt Terfehn.

Mr. Eckhoff passed away at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Aeilt Terfehn on Monday, March 9 after a rather lengthy illness. He reached the age of 76 years, 9 months and 3 days.

Preceding him in death were his parents, also three brothers: Arend, Henry, and Elert, and a sister, Jennie.

Those who mourn his passing are his three children, Mrs. Ben G. Geerdes, Harry Eckhoff and Mrs. Aeilt Terfehn all of the Wellsburg community, 8 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren also two brothers: Theodore of Wilmar, Minnesota and Herman of Steamboat Rock and one sister; Mary, Mrs. Will Caspers of Clara City, Minn., as well as many other relatives and friends.

Mr. Eckhoff was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church which he faithfully attended as long as his health would permit.
