Last Rites Held for Peter B. Eekhoff Friday, February 27

Last rites for Peter B. Eekhoff were held Friday afternoon, February 27, 1959 at 1:00 p.m. at the family home and later at the First Christian Reformed Church. Interment was made in the church cemetery adjoining the church.

Music was furnished by a men's quartet composed of Harvey Eiten, Alfred Eiten, Willis Bakker and Claus G. Primus. Mrs. Arthur Cooper was organist.

Flower attendants were Mrs. Lou Walbaum and Mrs. Bernard Stahl.

Peter B. Eekhoff died of a heart condition on Tuesday, February 24 in the Grundy Co. Memorial hospital after spending five and a half weeks there.

He was born to Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Eekhoff on November 28, 1897, on a farm in Shiloh township, Grundy County, Iowa. As he grew up he attended the school of this area.

Throughout his life he was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Wellsburg in which he professed his faith in 1921. He also served as office bearer in the church.

In 1922 he was united in marriage with Grace Hoffman Meints. The couple made their home on a farm southwest of Wellsburg. Three years ago they left the farm and have since that time lived in Wellsburg.

To this union two children, a daughter and a son were born.

Surviving the deceased are his wife, a daughter, (Florence) Mrs. Edward Nederhoff, four grandchildren: Stanley, Karen, Eldon and Arlan Nederhoff; also four sisters: Mrs. Ben Eiten, of Wellsburg, Mrs. Pete Luppen of Kanawha, Mrs. Fred Eiten and Mrs. Lubert Meyer also of Wellsburg, and many other relatives and friends.

Preceding the deceased in death were his parents, also a son Lester Boyd who died at the age of 8 years.
