Dick Janssen, 89, of Iowa Falls, Dies Mon., Buried Here Wed.

Funeral services for Dick Janssen, 89, of Iowa Falls were held Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Iowa Falls. The Rev. Raymond Graves officiated at the services. Harley Janssen of Alden was the soloist accompanied by the organist, Mrs. R. Houck of Iowa Falls. Flower attendants were Mrs. Kenneth Winters and Mrs. Fred Getting of Iowa Falls. Pall bearers were grandchildren of the deceased, Arnold Simpson, Dale Steding, Carl Janssen, George Nederhoff, Duane Fritzel and Richard Awe.

Mr. Janssen was born on April 18, 1869 in Ostfriesland, Germany to Mr. and Mrs. Gerritt Janssen. He married Miss Anna Kramer in 1893 in Germany. In February 1902 Mr. Janssen came to America. His wife and family came here in 1904.

Mr. Janssen passed away Monday morning at the Memorial hospital in Eldora where he had been confined for the past six weeks. During that time he submitted to surgery twice.

Surviving are nine children, Alice at home, Theresa (Mrs. Glen Simpson), Anna (Mrs. John Fritzel), Helen (Mrs. Verne Awe), and George Janssen all of Iowa Falls; Dick Janssen of Wellsburg; John Janssen of Denver, Colorado; Edward Janssen of Norwalk, California and Lillian (Mrs. Carl Shane) of Mossville, Illinois. There are also 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Preceding the deceased were his wife on Feb. 1, 1947 and a daughter in infancy.
