Life History of Mrs. Obo Haupt As Read at The Funeral

Mrs. Obo Haupt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oldig Nederhoff, now deceased, was born on January 9, 1879 in Grundy county and passed away at 6:45 p.m. at her home on January 8, 1952. Lacking five hours she had reached the age of 73 years.

On March 9, 1903, she was united in marriage to Mr. Obo Haupt by the Rev. W. R. Smith and moved to a farm south of Wellsburg. This union God chose to bless with five children.

Shortly after her marriage Mrs. Haupt made confession of her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and ever since had been a faithful member of the First Christian Reformed Church and of the Ladies Guild.

The deceased enjoyed good health until a little more than two years ago (August of 1949) when she was stricken with a heart attack while in Eldora and at that time was confined to the hospital for 10 weeks. After her return home she enjoyed fairly good health until three months ago, then she became progressively weaker until the Lord called her home, to be relieved of all earthly suffering, on Tuesday evening of last week. Funeral services for Mrs. Haupt were held Saturday afternoon at the First Christian Reformed church.

Surviving to mourn Mrs. Haupt are her husband, five children: August, Grace, at home; Mrs. L. A. Bunger of Wellsburg; Oldig of Eldora; and Henry of Wellsburg. There are also 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. In addition she leaves two sisters, Mrs. H. C. Bunger and Mrs. M. C. Bunger and two brothers, Joe and Oldig Nederhoff all of Wellsburg. Three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Those coming from a distance to attend the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Buse and Lorna Kay of David, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. Oldig Sietsema and family of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Mrs. Bena Baker; Mrs. Claus Mulder; John G. Bakker; George Sietsema and Thou Sietsema all of Renville, Minnesota; Mrs. Herman Meyer and daughters of Cedar Rapids.
