John C. Bunger Dies Friday, Rites Here On Monday

Funeral services for John C. Bunger were held at 1:15 Monday afternoon at the Doyen Funeral Home and at 1:30 at the Reformed Church.

Rev. Gideon Wolbrink was officiating clergyman.

Music was given by a quartet, Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Abels, Mrs. Douglas Geerdes and Duane Murra. Miss Marcella Neessen was organist.

Flower attendants were Mrs. John Heinrich and Mrs. George Hoodjer.

Pall bearers were Oldig H. Bunger, Coert H. Bunger, C. C. Nederhoff, Coert J. Nederhoff, Gratus J. Nederhoff and Carl L. Nederhoff.

Interment was made in the First Christian Reformed Church cemetery.

John C. Bunger passed away at the Maple Manor Nursing Home in Aplington, at 9:30 a.m. Friday due to complications of age. He had made his home in Aplington since December of 1966. He reached the age of 90 years, 8 months and 1 day.

Mr. Bunger was born May 31, 1877, on a farm in Grundy County, southwest of Wellsburg. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Coert Bunger (nee Tealka Smith). He attended the rural school in the area.

He had lived on his farm in southwest Grundy County until January of 1957, at which time he retired and moved to Wellsburg.

He was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church, having made confession of his faith on December 4, 1962.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Reka, Mrs. Manne Bakker, Ettje, Mrs. C. O. Nederhoff; 5 brothers, Lambert, Aldrich, Harm, Menne, Tielko and one brother, Cuno, in infancy.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Cuna Nederhoff of Wellsburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
