Funeral Thursday For Helen Ruter

Funeral services were held for Miss Helen Ruter at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Wellsburg Reformed Church.

Preceding the church service a short prayer service was held at 1:00 p.m. at the church fellowship fall. Rev. Gideon Wolbrink officiated at the services.

Mrs. Douglas Geerdes and Mrs. Robert Valentine sang two selections accompanied by Miss Marcella Neessen on the organ. Miss Sadie Behrends and Mrs. Jake Paterni were flower attendants.

Pall bearers were Irwin Abels, Gene Blythe, Harry Eckhoff, Leland Heinrich, Eugene Ruter and Robert White. Interment was made in the First Christian Reformed Church cemetery.

Miss Ruter passed away at the Grundy County Memorial hospital at Grundy Center, on May 2 at about 12:05 a.m. She had entered the hospital on the previous evening having sustained injuries in a fall. She reached the age of 94 years, 2 months and 29 days.

Helen Ruter was born in Grundy County on Feb. 3, 1873, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hemme Ruter. She lived in this area all of her life making her home with her parents until their passing and then with sisters and brothers. In 1953 she came to live with Alice and Eike Ruter, her niece and nephew. Her interest in crocheting which she continued until her death was an enjoyment to her and others around her.

She was the fifth child in a family of 10. The brothers and sisters who preceded her in death are Grace, Mrs. L. C. Bunger; Eike Ruter; Inka, Mrs. Boyd Freiborg; Ben Ruter; Flora, Mrs. Boyd Eekhoff; Peter Ruter; John Ruter; and Hattie, Mrs. Peter Eckhoff.

She is survived by one sister, Gepke, Mrs. Gust Sanders of West Bend and a host of other relatives.
