Rites Thursday For Berend Eertmoed At W'burg Church

Berend Eertmoed passed away at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Eldora Memorial Hospital due to carcinoma. He had been taken to the hospital on December 3rd for treatment. He reached the age of 47 years, 7 months, and 16 days.

He was born on April 29, 1919, to Mr. and Mrs. Alle Eertmoed, on a farm in Clay Township, Hardin County, near Steamboat Rock. He attended rural school in the area. He spent all of his life on the farm together with his sister and brothers. He was the youngest member of the family.

He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, having made Confession of his Faith in Jesus Christ on August 9, 1942.

He was preceded in death by his parents. His mother passing away in 1929 and his father in 1956.

Survivors include one sister and two brothers, Jan Eertmoed, Grace Eertmoed, Albert Eertmoed of rural Steamboat Rock and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Berend A. Eertmoed were held on Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the family home and at 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church. Rev. Harold Hollander was clergyman.

Music was furnished by a men's quartet, Willis Bakker, Alfred Eiten, Harvey Eiten and Claus G. Primus, accompanied by Mrs. Henry Vande Voort Jr., as organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Alle Jaspers and Mrs. Darrell Bleeker.

Pall bearers were Cornie Doolaard, Edward G. Geerdes, William P. Riekena, Ted Nederhoff, Laurence Lutterman and Jans Mennenga.

Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.
