Evert J. Bakker Funeral Tuesday

Funeral services for Evert J. Bakker were held Tuesday afternoon, March 14 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church. Rev. Harold Hollander was clergyman. Richard Schafer was soloist. Mrs. Henry Vandevoort was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Evert Heikens and Mrs. Benjamin Primus. Pall bearers were Evert Heikens, Evert L. Bakker, Gratus Mudderman, Edward Miller, Willard Riekena and Gerald Bakker. Interment was made in the First Christian Reformed Church cemetery. Flag folding rites were conducted at the graveside by the local American Legion and Amvets Posts. Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Evert J. Bakker passed away Saturday morning, March 11, in Iowa Falls due to an apparent heart attack. He reached the age of 55 years, 1 month and 22 days.

He was born on a farm in Shiloh township northwest of Wellsburg on January 19, 1917, the son of John G. and Anna (Ross) Bakker. He attended the rural schools in the area. He was married to DeLoris Heronimus in March of 1941.

He was a veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his father, who passed away in 1952.

Those who survive him are: 2 sons and 1 daughter: Randall L. Bakker of Des Moines, Jerry L. Bakker of Grundy Center, Miss Mary Bakker of Grundy Center; his mother, Mrs. Anna Bakker of Wellsburg; 2 grandchildren; 4 brothers and 1 sister; Mrs. Alice Kramer of Clear Lake, Gerriet Bakker of Mason City, Gratus Bakker of St. Paul, Minn., Mennie Bakker of Iowa Falls, Meint J. Bakker of Wellsburg and many other relatives and friends.
