Jacob Holder, 81, died at 3:45 p.m. Saturday, at his home, 1421 Jefferson street, of complications incident to advanced age.

He was born Sept. 1 1846, in Buerttenberg, Germany. He married Miss Mary Gseller there Feb. 21, 1868, and she preceded him in death April 26, 1885. Nov. 10, 1885, he married Miss Louisa Gseller. They came to the United States in 1890, settling on a farm near Fredsville, Ia.

In 1910 he came to Waterloo with his family. He had been employed for more than 15 years by the Herrick Refrigerator company. He was a member of Trinity American Lutheran church.

Surviving besides the widow are the following children: William H. Holder, 906 Seventh street west; Mrs. Charles E. Smalley, 1027 Franklin street; Jacob Holder, New York City, and August Holder, Omaha, Neb. Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. Two sons, Fred and John, preceded him in death at Fredsville.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Trinity American Lutheran church, Rev. F. Herbert Moehlmann, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Fredsville. The body is at Petersen Bros.' mortuary.
