Death of Mrs. Haren

Mrs. John Haren died on Sunday morning, March 22, 1903, of heart failure.

Her maiden name was A. W. Smidt. She was born in Eilsum, Ostfriesland, Germany, Jan. 29, 1816, and was eighty seven years old at the time of her death.

In 1842 she was married to John Haren and to this union was born six children, five boys and one girl, four of whom are living. One died in infancy and Claas died in 1874.

In 1873 the family left the old country and came to America settling in Palermo township, Grundy county, where they have resided almost ever since. She is survived by her sons, John, Henry and Harm Haren and her daughter, Mrs. Harm Itzen, of Holland, at whose home she died. Her husband died in 1874 and until two years ago she made her home with her son Henry. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The funeral was held on Wednesday at the Holland church, services being conducted by Rev. Saalborn. The remains were placed in the Clark cemetery where her husband and son were also buried.
