H. W. Kelley died at his home in this city Wednesday morning about 2:30 o'clock after suffering from pneumonia for about two weeks. The time of the funeral had not been announced up to the time of going to press, on account of not hearing from relatives of the deceased as to when they could reach here.

The funeral of H. W. Kelley, the notice of whose death appeared in last week's Republican, took place at his late home in Grundy Center Friday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. McMasters, pastor of the Baptist church conducting the services. Mr. Kelley died after being ill with pneumonia for about ten days. H. W. Kelley was born in Rutland, Vt., in 1845, where he lived until five years of age when his parents moved to Wisconsin and then to Ohio. In the latter state Mr. Kelley lived until 1870, when he came to Iowa locating in Steamboat Rock where he engaged in the general merchandise and grain business. In 1881 he sold his business and moved to Ft. Dodge, becoming a traveling salesman, which pursuit he followed until 1899 when he embarked in the general merchandise business in Wellsburg in which business he was engaged at the time of his death. Mr. Kelley was married twice, the first time in 1872 at Steamboat Rock, to Frances J. Mastin, who died in 1897. Last September he was married to Mrs. Maria Mastin, which marriage gave promise of being long and happy. Mr. Kelley had one son, a young man about twenty-eight years of age who was with his father at the time of his death. Mr. Kelley was a good citizen, a good business man and a good neighbor and will be mourned by many in Grundy county. Since his last marriage he has made his home in Grundy Center though still conducting his business in Wellsburg. He is survived by a wife and son, two brothers and one sister, the last three living in Ohio.
