Claus Harders Passes Away

Claus Harders passed away Tuesday morning at one o'clock at the home of his sister, Mrs. John Souers, following a stroke of paralysis with which he was afflicted Monday evening. Mr. Harders was about seventy years old. The funeral service was held from the home this afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. L. P. Krome officiating.

Claus Harders was born in Germany, Feb. 18th, 1848. At the age of 17 years he came to America and located in Valparaiso, Ind. He lived there seven years and thence to Iowa, where the remainder of his life was spent with the exception of several years spent in travel. He became affiliated with the German Lutheran church at the age of 18. He has two sisters living and two dead, also one brother living and one dead.

Those left to mourn his loss are Mrs. J. Souers, Grundy Center, Mrs. C. A. Pepperman, Long Beach, California, and John Harders, of Tarkio, Mo.

The last year of his life was spent with his sister, Mrs. Souers. His sickness was not lingering for on Tuesday evening he was stricken with a stroke of paralysis and died during the same night.
