Samuel Clark was born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, Jan. 6, 1845 and lived there until 1873 when he moved to Grundy county where he lived until Feb. 27, 1920, when he passed away on the farm where he had lived for forty-five years. In 1868 he married Miss Lena Meyers, daughter of Chas. Meyers, one of the early settlers of Melrose township. To this union two sons were born, Fred L. and Roy S., both living on the home farm.

Mr. Clark was a member of the Presbyterian church and one of Grundy County's most highly respected citizens. He will be greatly missed by the family and his large collection of friends. He leaves to mourn his death a wife and two sons, besides one brother, Alex Clark, of Genoa, Nebraska.
