Mrs. Lawson Davis

Bertha Elizabeth Litzkow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Litzkow, was born in Germany, Jan. 27, 1860, coming to America and Iowa with her parents when eight years of age.

She was married Oct. 25, 1884, to Lawson Davis, at Morrison, Ia., living there until 1888 when they moved to the farm north of town, where on Mar. 2nd, 1902 Mr. Davis passed away. In 1903 Mrs. Davis moved from the farm to Grundy Center, from which place she passed to her heavenly home March 12, 1920.

Mrs. Davis united with the First Baptist church of this city, under the ministry of Rev. W. H. Pilot.

The church had no more loyal and consistent member than Mrs. Davis, she was never absent from any of its services when able to attend, the community no better neighbor, the home no more faithful mother, and the sick room no more patient a sufferer than she.

Mrs. Davis was a quiet, unassuming person yet the characteristics above given won for her friends that a seeming stronger personality might not win.

With her going those left to mourn are, Emery Davis on the farm, Almeda and Ruth at home, as well as three brothers and one sister, Theodore Litzkow of Andover, S.D.; George Litzkow of Mellatt, S.D.; Otto Litzkow, of Watertown, S.D.; Mrs. Alice Bague of Dows, Ia., with four grandchildren, Edwin, Paul, Dorothy and Lee Davis on the farm.
