Casper "Cap" Niehaus, 96, of Grundy Center, died Thursday, Oct. 17 at Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 21 at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center with burial following at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center. A memorial fund has been established.
Cap was born April 25, 1906 in rural Grundy County, the son of Dick and Anna (Wolthoff) Niehaus. On December 25, 1931, Casper was united in marriage to Henrietta Petersen in Grundy Center. He farmed for 41 years in Lincoln Township northeast of Grundy Center.
Casper was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center, where he served as a Sunday School teacher and as an elder. He loved fishing and tinkering with his model T cars.
Survivors include his wife, Henrietta; one son Don and LeRae Wilhau Niehaus of Bayfield, WI; a daughter Clarice (Roger) Stachour of Wayzata, MN; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister Marian Pruisner of Waterloo.
Casper is preceded in death by his parents; a brother Eldon Niehaus; and a sister Margaret Ahranholz.
