Loana Ohrt Services Held

Loana M. Ohrt, 78, of Dysart, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 1999, at the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center following a short illness.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 27, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Dysart, with Rev. Ron Blix officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.

Loana Mae Ohrt was born on October 4, 1920, at Grundy Center the daughter of Leroy and Johanna (Stumberg) Purvis. She received her education at the Grundy Center schools and graduated in the Class of 1938.

On August 23, 1944, Loana was united in marriage to Alvin Ohrt at Cedar Falls. They made their home in Dinsdale where they raised their family. They later divorced in 1967.

Loana worked for many years at the Ohrt Family Store in Dinsdale and later at Casey's in Dysart. For the past 20 years she has resided in Dysart and enjoyed spending time with a good friend, Stan Howe. Loana also enjoyed flowers, birds and having coffee with friends uptown.

Loana was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by three sons, Gary Ohrt (Celia) of Marinette, WI, Darrell Ohrt (Jan) of Bloomington, MN and Tom Ohrt (Marjorie) of Iowa City, a daughter, Diana (Mrs. Steve) Posusta of Marshalltown; a brother, Don Purvis of Port Charlotte, FL; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
