Edna Brown Services Held
Edna K. Brown, of Grundy Center, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, at the Hospice Care Unit of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center of natural causes having attained the age of 93 years, 1 month and 1 day.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 30, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with burial in the Rose Hill Cemetery, both in Grundy Center. Pastor Dave Stellmon officiated the service.
Pallbearers were Don Rouse, Chuck Whittlesey, Paul Rouse, Gordon Bloxham, Ian Frerichs and Ronald Bloxham.
Memorials may be directed to the Grundy County Hospice.
Edna was born on August 26, 1902, the daughter of Peter and Lottie (Wilson) Bloxham one mile southwest of Grundy Center. She attended school thru the eighth grade. She was united in marriage to Carl Brown on December 25, 1935, at her parents home in rural Grundy Center. They lived on a farm near Waterloo during the first year of marriage and then moved to a farm near Grundy Center. They moved to their present farm on September 15, 1937, where she has lived since.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters, Ethel Rouse, Ada Rieman and Myrtle Paige; and 2 brothers, Leland and Lloyd.
Survivors include her husband, Carl of Grundy Center; brother, Lester Bloxham of Grundy Center; and many nieces and nephews.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the professional arrangements.
