Service Here For Mrs. Harry Burke

Mrs. Harry Burke, 87, formerly of Grundy Center, died January 24. She had been a resident of the Edgewater Nursing and Geratic Center in Chicago since 1972.

A committal service for Mrs. Burke was held at the Grundy Center cemetery at 1 p.m. January 26 with pastor Theo. Ertle of the First Baptist Church officiating.

Mrs. Burke's husband and his parents are also buried in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Josephine Nilsen was born September 15, 1895 at Ruthven, IA, the daughter of Conrad and Bertha Nilsen. She received her elementary and high school education at Marshalltown, IA, Texline, TX and St. Paul, MN, and her college education at St. Olaf in Northfield, MN.

On June 25, 1919, she was united in marriage to Harry W. Burke, who preceded her in death July 26, 1972.

The Burke's lived in Grundy Center several years in the house one block west of the lower elementary school. From Grundy they moved to Hampton and from there to Rock Island, IL in 1928. While in Rock Island Mrs. Burke was active in the Woman's Club, YWCA, Girl Scouts, First Baptist Church, PTA, King's Daughters and many choral groups in the quad city area.

Survivors include two sons, Richard H. of Salem, OR, Robert N. of Chicago; and daughter Bonnie Rae Forman of 2161 W. Country Road B, St. Paul, MN 55113; also four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers.
