Edith Wiese, Age 96, Dies

Edith E. Wiese, age 96, passed away Tuesday, January 4, in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 6 at 2:30 p.m. at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center. Rev. David L. Nelson officiated the service.

Pallbearers were Robert Wiese, Terry Deuel, Floyd Gerholdt, Francis Dilley, Marion Cagley and Robert Reichert.

Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Grundy Center.

Edith was the daughter of Emmet and Virginia Long Watson. She was united in marriage to Gus Wiese, who preceded her in death. She lived most of her life in the New Hartford area. She lived with her son and daughter-in-law in Waterloo for 10 years, and moved with them to West Des Moines, and lived there six years.

Survivors include two sons, Claude and Homer, both of West Des Moines; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established. The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the arrangements.
