Flora Bleeker Died At Hospital

Miss Flora D. Bleeker, 71, of Grundy Center died Wednesday morning, May 31, 1978 at 8 a.m. in the Grundy County Memorial hospital where she had been a patient one week.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home at Grundy Center. Rev. Calvin W. Vanderwerf of the Bethany Presbyterian church officiated. Merle Mamminga sang "In The Garden" and "Where He Leads Me I Will Follow". He was accompanied by Mrs. Raymond Appel who also played selected prelude and postlude numbers.

Casketbearers were Carl Dudden, John Klosterboer, Edward Flater, Conrad Flater, Henry J. Meester and Herman Lupkes. Mrs. Vernon Klosterboer and Mrs. Bill Harken were floral attendants. Burial was in Fairview cemetery, Grundy Center. Following the committal service relatives and friends returned to the Mrs. Irene Krull home for a period of fellowship and lunch.

Flora was born June 18, 1906 at Renville, Minn., the daughter of Harry and Reva VanHorn Bleeker. As a young girl the family moved to Grundy Center. For many years Flora cared for her invalid mother until her death in 1947. She then lived with her father until his death in 1962. In recent years she had lived with her sister, Mrs. Anna Meyeraan.

She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Anna Meyeraan and Mrs. Irene Krull of Grundy Center and one brother, Everett L. Bleeker of Lansing, also several nieces and nephews. A memorial fund has been established.
