Mrs. H. G. Peppler, 80, Died in California
Mrs. Henry G. Peppler, 80, a former resident of Grundy Center, died at her home in Encinitas, Calif. on Friday, Dec. 14. Mrs. Peppler died of complications of age. Memorial services were held in California and burial will be in the Grundy Center cemetery at a later date. The body was cremated.
Mrs. Peppler was born Rachel J. Buchan, Nov. 14, 1893, in Grundy Center, the daughter of George A. and Elizabeth Longnecker Buchan. She was married to Henry G. Peppler on Sept. 16, 1914 at Waterloo. Following their marriage they lived in Grundy Center and later moved to Waterloo. In 1949 after Mr. Peppler retired from the John Deere Tractor Works, they moved to California.
Surviving are her husband; three sons, George A. and John F. of Waterloo, and Donald of Salona Beach, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Glen (Doris) Smith of Waterloo; four brothers, Ted, Michael and John Sr. of Waterloo and William of Charles City; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Loeb of Schuylkill Haven, Penn., Mrs. Vera Kern of Lawn City Nursing Home, Cedar Falls, and Mrs. Chirsty Kerstetter of Charles City; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, two brothers and two sisters.

Memorial services for the cremated remains of Mrs. Henry (Rachel) Peppler, 80, formerly of Waterloo will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center.
Mrs. Peppler died on Dec. 14 in Encinitas, Calif.
