A. F. Bertram Rites Held In Grundy

Alton F. Bertram, 128 Doyle St., Evansdale, age 63, died Saturday afternoon while at work at Sartori hospital, Cedar Falls. Death was caused by a massive internal hemorrhage.

Services were held in the First Presbyterian church at Grundy Center Tuesday afternoon with Rev. John L. Lewis officiating. Merle Mamminga sang "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Mrs. Raymond Appel was accompanist.

Ushers were Will Hartman and Claire Amburn. Mrs. Milo Middleton and Mrs. Chas. Rhoads Jr. were floral attendants. Pallbearers were Burgess Hawn, Wilbur Henningsen, Paul Thuesen, Charles Delfs, Sidney Greany and S. D. Saunders. Burial was in Fairview cemetery, Grundy Center.

He was born July 26, 1910 in Oil City, Pennsylvania, the son of Bert Charles and Ruth Frances Miller Bertram. He was married to Cora Chilsom March 8, 1942 in Montevidio, Minn. They lived in the Dakotas and Minnesota before moving to the Grundy Center-Parkersburg area. Mrs. Bertram died November 17, 1967 in Grundy Center. He lived with various relatives until July, 1973 when he moved to the home of his daughter at Evansdale. While living in Grundy Center he was a member of the First Presbyterian church.

Survivors are four sons, Roger, Charlestown, Mass.; Terry, San Diego, Calif.; William, U.S. Navy on the Mediterranean Sea; Richard, Waterloo; and six daughters, Mrs. Terry (Ruth) Reagan, Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Gordon (Elizabeth) Reints, Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Donald (Mary) Catherwood, Whitten; Mrs. Allen (Sarah) Warren, Evansdale; Mrs. Mark (Rebecca) Penne, Waterloo and Miss Sandra Bertram, Whitten. There are 14 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Bert Booth of Fontana, Wis.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
