Mrs. Elmer Geiter Funeral Saturday

Mrs. Elmer Geiter passed away Wednesday night, December 17 at Grundy Memorial Hospital after suffering a series of strokes since the first part of November.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the Methodist Church. Rev. Herbert Bryant and Rev. Robert Marquardt officiated.

Mrs. A. R. Trevillyan was organist and Mrs. Glen Cone soloist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Arthur Robins and Mrs. Gus DeLange.

Casket bearers were William Slater, Harold Mooty, Clarence Brown, Charles Mooty Jr., Dean Eslinger, Francis Persinger. Floyd Morrison, Frank Bentley, E. C. Anderson and John High were honorary casket bearers.

Interment was in Fairview cemetery, Grundy Center.

Marlys Lena Rehder Geiter, daughter of Anna Barfels and George Rehder was born at Gladbrook on April 29, 1916. She has maintained her membership in Peace United Church of Christ at Gladbrook where she was baptized and confirmed and spent many years in Sunday School and choir work.

She was graduated from Gladbrook high school with honors in 1933. She attended Grundy College and Gates Business College, Waterloo. She worked at the Lincoln Savings Bank, Lincoln with her father, until her marriage to Elmer H. Geiter on March 30, 1937. They made their home on the Geiter farm southeast of Grundy where they lived for 32 years.

Mrs. Geiter was an active worker in the Grundy Methodist Church where she was a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service and a teacher of the Winmore Sunday School class and a member of the Grundy Center Woman's Club.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1949.

She is survived by her husband, Elmer, one son Ralph, his wife Betty and one grandson Jeffrey, all of Grundy Center. Her mother and sister, Arlene, Mrs. Loren Mehaffy, Gladbrook, three nieces, five nephews and numerous other relatives and friends.
