Mrs. E. Grimmius Dies At Hospital

Mrs. Emma Grimmius died at the Grundy hospital last Thursday within an hour and a half after she had arrived at the hospital. Death was due to advanced age and complications. She was 89 years old.

The body was taken to the Engelkes Funeral Home, where arrangements were made. Services were held in the First Presbyterian church in Grundy Center Monday afternoon. The service was conducted by Rev. Duane Heap. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Mrs. Grimmius was born in The Netherlands, Europe, February 26, 1887. Her maiden name was Emma Hut. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eltjo Hut.

June 1, 1901, Emma Hut and Bernard Grimmius were married. The first three years of their married life they resided in Wellsburg. The next three years they resided in Emmetsburg. From Emmetsburg they moved back to Grundy county and for several years they resided on one of the Boies farms southwest of Grundy Center. In 1937 the couple moved into their new home in Grundy Center. Mr. Grimmius died July 13, 1940. Mrs. Grimmius continued to live in their Grundy Center home until she was taken to the hospital.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter. The sons are Ben and Leeno Grimmius, Grundy Center. Mrs. Joe Noel, Grundy Center, is the surviving daughter. There are 12 surviving grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Other surviving members of her family are one brother, Carl Hut, Estelline, South Dakota, and one sister, Mrs. Aafko DeLange, living in The Netherlands. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons and one brother.
