Rites Monday For Hei Bleeker

Hei Bleeker died Friday afternoon at the nursing home at Union, where he had been a resident for 11 months. He had been in failing health the past two years. He would have been 92 years old Aug. 28.

The body was brought by the Engelkes funeral service to the Engelkes funeral home, Grundy Center where arrangements were made.

Services were held Monday afternoon at the Bethany Presbyterian church in Grundy Center. The service was conducted by Rev. E. H. Buschman. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Mr. Bleeker was born in the Wellsburg area August 28, 1874. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Everet Bleeker. He grew up in the Wellsburg community. Feb. 18, 1915, he and Hazel Mennenga Arends were married at Reinbeck. They resided at Reinbeck a few years after their marriage. 45 years ago they moved to Grundy Center where they resided continually until Mr. Bleeker was taken to the nursing home.

Surviving are the wife, three daughters, (Arlene) Mrs. Darrell Essen, Grundy Center; (Marlene) Mrs. Lloyd Sincock, Flint, Michigan; (Hilda) Mrs. DeYaun Tucker, Fernly, Nevada; one stepdaughter, Mrs. John Ash, Grundy Center and a stepson, Jake Arends of Colo. There are 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Gus Rindels Sr., of Ackley. He was preceded in death by two sons, five brothers and three sisters.
