Fred Meyeraan, 61, Dies Early Monday At Grundy Center

Fred Meyeraan, 61, a resident of Grundy Center the past 30 years, died at 12:30 a.m. Monday at his home of cancer. He had been in ill health for a number of years.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Bethany Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Wayne Hoffman in charge. Burial will be in the Grundy Center cemetery.

A prayer service preceding the funeral will be held at the Engelkes Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be six of Mr. Meyeraan's nephews. They are John, James, Vernon and Frank Meyeraan, and Harm and Sievert Dammer.

Fred Meyeraan was born June 15, 1900, in Germany, and came to Osceola county, Iowa, with his parents in the spring of 1913.

On Dec. 11, 1928, he was united in marriage to Anna Bleeker. The couple resided for two years at Worthington, Minn., then moved to Grundy Center where they have made their home the past 30 years.

Mr. Meyeraan worked as a general laborer for many years and recently was a salesman for McNess products in this area.

Survivors include the widow, four brothers and four sisters: George, Worthington, Minn.; Mrs. Henry Dammer, Adrian, Minn.; William and Carl, Waterloo; Mrs. Phillip Williamson, Sibley; Mrs. George Kruse, Worthington; Frank, Wellsburg; and Mrs. Harry Bottoff, Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
