Al Johnson, 59, Dies in Hospital
Alfred John Johnson, 59, Conrad painter, died at 11:45 p.m. Thursday at Evangelical Hospital in Marshalltown following an illness of one year.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Assembly of God tabernacle, with burial in the cemetery at Grundy Center.
He was born in Oslo, Norway and came to the United States with his parents while still a small boy. He married Grace Binder of Conrad on January 1, 1930.
Before moving to Conrad the family lived in Grundy Center several years.
Mr. Johnson had lived in Conrad the past 15 years, where he worked as a painter. He also served as town night watchman.
Survivors include the widow and three daughters, Mrs. Don Eastman of Sioux City, Mrs. Don Woosley of Marshalltown, and Janice at home; also a sister, Mrs. James Oulman of Morrison, and seven grandchildren.
