Bert Hasbrouck Dies In Hospital
Bert Hasbrouck, who was born in Grundy Center and who spent the early part of his life here, died in the hospital at Clarion Monday forenoon. He would have been 80 years old had he lived until the 7th of this month. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hasbrouck, and a member of a family of eight children.
Received Shell Shock In World War I
Bert Hasbrouck was a veteran of World War I. He served overseas and suffered shell shock during an engagement in that war, from which he never recovered. He was in failing health during the past year. He was taken to the veterans' hospital in Des Moines for treatment for some time and from there was transferred to the Solders' Home in Marshalltown. Three weeks ago at his request he was taken to the hospital at Clarion, to be nearer the home at Goldfield where he resided several years. He never married.Surviving are two brothers, Jim Hasbrouck, Grundy Center, and Harry from Goldfield. There are two surviving sisters, Mrs. Edith Hodge from Minnesota and Mrs. Stella Hodge from Wisconsin.
Funeral services were held at Goldfield Wednesday. After the funeral service the body was brought to Grundy Center for burial in the Grundy Center cemetery.
