Asa Reisinger Dies at Hospital
Asa C. Reisinger, who for many years was engaged in the stock-buying business at Dike, died at the University hospital at Iowa City at ten o'clock on Saturday, July 28. He was 72 years old. He suffered from cancer of the throat for the past six months. He was confined to his bed at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dorr Miller, in Grundy Center two weeks before his death. He was taken to the Iowa City hospital last Wednesday.
Funeral services were at the Coffman funeral home in Grundy Center Monday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. J. B. Bird from Dike. Burial was by the side of his wife in the Grundy Center cemetery.
Mr. Reisinger was born Sept. 19, 1872, at Shannon, Ill. He was the oldest son of Thomas and Cordelia Reisinger. In 1877 he came to Grundy county with his parents. He grew to manhood here and on April 11, 1899, married Bessie Almeda Little. They located on a farm in Grundy county and moved to Dike in 1903 where he became a cattle buyer.
His wife preceded him in death Aug. 6, 1942. Last fall he came to Grundy Center to make his home with his daughter.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Dorr Miller of Grundy Center and Mrs. Edward Whaley of Knoxville, Tenn.; two brothers, Frank Reisinger of Reinbeck and G. A. Reisinger of Waterloo; one foster sister, Mrs. Tony Billman of Dike, and five grandchildren. One brother, Henry preceded him in death.
