James T. Elliott, former Grundy Man, Dies at Waterloo

James T. Elliott, who was born on a farm north of Morrison, died Sunday evening in the Presbyterian hospital in Waterloo. Death resulted from a stroke which he suffered the week before. He was taken to the hospital after he was stricken but was unable to rally. He was 69 years old.

He was born June 11, 1873. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Elliott, early farmer residents of Grundy county. On Dec. 20, 1897, he was married to Lulu Stuck. She died in 1922.

After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Elliott moved to Morrison where for many years he operated a blacksmith shop. Twenty years ago, following the death of his wife, he went to Waterloo and made his home there ever since. He was employed by the Repass Automobile Company as fireman.

Surviving are two sons, Allen of Los Angeles and Paul from Burley, Idaho. There are three daughters: Mrs. Mary Cockersham, Colfax, Iowa, Mrs. Robert Hostetter, Waterloo, Mrs. Virginia Dodson, Denver. There are two brothers, Claude and Edward of Grundy Center, and one sister, Mrs. Maude Meisner, Minneapolis.
