Ben Westerman Dies At Hospital Monday

Ben Westerman died at a Marshalltown hospital Monday afternoon from a kidney ailment. He had been in poor health for several months and was taken to the hospital for care and treatment twelve days before his death.

The body was brought to the Engelkes funeral home where it was prepared for burial. Funeral services will be held at the home at 1:30 on Thursday and later at Bethany Presbyterian church with the local pastor, Rev. K. J. Stratemeier, officiating. Burial will be in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Ben Westerman was born June 4, 1876, at Finsterwold, The Netherlands. He was united in marriage to Miss Addie Shriver on January 24, 1903.

They came to this country and to this county 37 years ago. The larger portion of their life in Grundy county Mr. and Mrs. Westerman resided on a farm near Wellsburg. They moved to Grundy Center twelve years ago where they resided since.

Mr. Westerman united with the Bethany Presbyterian church on confession of faith Feb. 17, 1929, being one of the first group received by the present pastor.

The Westermans have no children. Only the widow survives. A half-sister and a half-brother are living in The Netherlands.
